OVERSEAS MINISTERS OF RELIGION: CHANGES TO IMMIGRATION RULES
May be interested to note
the following Parliamentary Questions that have
been tabled in the House of Commons by Keith Vaz,
the MP for Leicester East.
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department,
how many Sikh ministers of religion have taken the
International English Language Testing System certificate
test this year?
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department,
how many Sikh ministers of religion have been denied
entry to the UK this year?
Many in the Sikh community would regard the actions
and the interpretation of rules by the Foreign and
Commonwealth Office (FCO) as gross interference
in Sikh religious affairs. John Randall the Conservative
MP for Uxbridge has also raised the following interesting
question:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department,
how many violent attacks perpetrated against Sikhs
have been recorded in each of the last five years;
and in how many of these attacks race or religion
was deemed to be a factor.
