INDIANS STAGE ANTI-BUSH PROTESTS AND PROMOTE SUICIDE BOMBERS

It is said that a picture represents a thousand words. The pictures below from India taken yesterday show once again the immaturity of Indians and their politics on the world stage.

Effigies of the US president were burnt and slogans shouted against the policies of the US in many towns and cities throughout India. A Sikh Federation (UK) spokesman said: "The tens of thousands of Indians chanting 'Death to Bush!' and conducting 'mock' funerals did not represent a spontaneous reaction, but a staged exercise."

Yesterday's protesters carried placards that read: "Bully Bush, Go Home," and "Death to America, Death to Bush" indicating the protest was also aimed against the American people. Manmohan Singh, the Indian Prime Minister himself, was not spared. Today Indian MPs also joined demonstrations in Delhi confirming India's anti-US stance.

In private the US President will no doubt reflect on the merits of strengthening the strategic partnership between India and the United States. Opposition parties in India have even suggested any nuclear deal with the US will undermine India's sovereignty and integrity.

An extremely worrying sign is that the Indian Government appears to be tolerating if not promoting suicide bombers, as shown by one of the pictures below. Bhai Amrik Singh, the Chairman of the Sikh Federation (UK) said: "The United States should by extremely cautious in choosing its strategic partners and mindful of India's consistent anti-US position. We are horrified by pictures showing that India is promoting suicide bombers."

"Compare this to a month ago when India tried, but failed to stop Sikhs carrying out a small peaceful candle lit vigil outside the UK Parliament to protest against the death penalty in India and calling for the release of Sikh political prisoners. Countries in the West like the US, Canada and the UK should take serious note of India's double standards - it promotes 'Indian' suicide bombers that would attack the West and yet wants all peaceful opposition abroad highlighting human rights abuses in India to be silenced."
